# Can I add custom sets of Curriculum Tags?

# Adding your Own Tags

If you can't find the set of standards that you'd like to use with your class, or if you have your own unique curriculum tags you'd like to add, not to worry! Curriculum Tags in SpacesEDU are retrieved from the [Common Standards Project](https://www.commonstandardsproject.com/), and this open platform allows anyone to add new sets of standards.

**SpacesEDU Pro Schools / Districts:** For districts and schools licensing SpacesEDU Pro, we can assist with adding custom standards for you. Please contact your account manager or start a chat in the bottom left of your screen to learn more.

To add your own custom standards for use as Curriculum Tags:

1. Visit the [Standards Creator](https://commonstandardsproject.com/edit) on the Common Standards Project
2. Click **Get Started**, and log in through one of the supported sign-in partners (Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
3. Click **Create Standards** on the bottom right-hand side of the screen, and go through the brief tutorial
Next, you'll see a list of States, Organizations, and Schools:

5. If you're adding standards based on the curriculum for a state or province, select it from the States list on the left
6. To add standards specific to your school, district, or organization, you can click on the name in the appropriate column, or select 'Add School/District' or 'Add Organization' if it doesn't appear there already
Fill in the required fields for the Description of the standards set, including the subject, grade or course name, title and URL for the source of the standards, and the level

8. Next you'll need to add the standards themselves - these are what will become your individual Curriculum Tags. Click **Add a standard,** and start entering a separate row for each individual tag that you'd like to use
9. Ensure that each standard has an **outline** and **abbreviation** field populated: the outline structures the categories and individual tags using letters and/or numbers, while the abbreviation is a short identifier for each individual tag.
Use the **arrow** buttons to **indent** groups of tags within the same category:

11. In order for your new standard set to be approved, you'll need to add at least **5** separate standards, and indent at least **4**. Top level categories (e.g. 'Communication,' 'Exploring and Preparing for the World of Work') should be furthest to the left, while subgroups with specific expectations (e.g. 'demonstrate an understanding of [x]') should be indented to the right below the appropriate heading.
12. If the source for your standards does not include a numbered outline, or abbreviations for each item, you can invent an organizational system that makes sense to you!
13. After adding all of the standards you'd like to use, review your content and click **Submit.** You can also include any comments & questions for the Common Standards Project at the bottom of the page before submitting.

**Note** - It may take up to a week for your submission to be reviewed and approved. Once the submission has been approved by the Common Standards Project, you'll receive a notification and it will be available for use in SpacesEDU right away!

**Who can use my standards?**

Keep in mind that the Common Standards project is an open initiative, integrated but not affiliated with SpacesEDU. Any standards that you add will be visible to everyone in SpacesEDU, as well as on the CSP homepage and in any other third-party platforms that integrate with CSP.
