# How do I create a family account?

This article explains how family members can create a SpacesEDU account to connect with their child's class and stay up to date with their learning.

###### Before You Start

* A teacher must send you an invitation email before you can join a class.
* Use the same email address your child's teacher used to invite you. Using a different email address will prevent you from linking to your child's class.
* If you already have a SpacesEDU family account, you do not need to create a new one. New class invitations will appear in the **Invitations** section of your existing account.

###### Method 1: Join via Invitation Email (Recommended)

1. Open the **invitation email** from your child's teacher and click the blue **Join Classroom** button
2. Fill in your first and last name, email address, and create a password. Alternatively, sign up using your **Google Account**.
3. Click **Sign Up** to complete the process

**Cannot find the invitation email?**

Search your inbox (including spam and promotions folders) for emails from [noreply@app.spacesedu.com](mailto:noreply@app.spacesedu.com) or [noreply@ca.spacesedu.com](mailto:noreply@ca.spacesedu.com).

If you still cannot find it, use Method 2 below.

###### Method 2: Sign Up Directly at SpacesEDU.com

Use this method only if you cannot find your invitation email.

1. Visit [www.SpacesEDU.com](https://www.spacesedu.com/) and click **Sign Up**
2. Enter your email address and click **Next**

||| ⚠️ Important: You must use the same email address your child's teacher used to invite you to join their class.

3. Choose the **I'm Family** option to proceed
4. Enter your first and last name, set a password, agree to the terms, and click **Sign Up**. Gmail users can select **Sign up with Google** instead.
5. You will receive an email from SpacesEDU to validate your email address. Once validated, you will be redirected to a new login screen.
6. Use your new SpacesEDU credentials to log in
7. Click on your **avatar or initials** at the top right corner and select **Invitations**
8. Click **Accept Invite** to add the class to your account

###### Receiving a "Your Credentials Don't Match" Message?

This most likely means you are already logged into the SpacesEDU app on iOS or Android with your student's credentials. Log out of any other SpacesEDU accounts first, then try again:

1. Open the SpacesEDU app on your mobile device
2. Tap your initials or avatar at the top right of the screen, then tap **Log Out**
3. Open your invitation email and tap the link again

This will allow you to create your family account and link with your student.

| 💡 Tip: If possible, access your family account on a different device from the one used for student account logins to avoid this issue in the future.

**Joining Additional Classes or Linking with More Students**

Once your SpacesEDU family account is created, any new class invitations sent to your account email will appear in the **Invitations** section of your account.

| Scenario | What to do |
| ---- |
| Join an additional class | Ask the teacher to send an invitation to your SpacesEDU account email, then accept it from the Invitations section |
| Link with more students | Same process: receive an invitation from the teacher and accept it |
| Student is in multiple classes or has a new teacher | You will need a new invitation for each class, but you can accept them all using the same account |

Important notes:

* You can link with multiple students and classes using the same family account
* Linking with a student does not automatically give you access to all classes the student is in. Each teacher controls family access and visibility for their own classes.
