# How do I create a post?

Posts are the best way to connect with your students and families, share multimedia content, and create an engaging virtual learning environment.
The instructions below might seem like a lot, since we've tried to make Posts as flexible as possible, and we explain each of the options in detail here.
Don't worry; once you try it for yourself, you'll find that it's quick and easy to add whatever kind of posts you want!

**Step 1: Start a New Post**

* Select **Create** (bottom-right of the Feed or within any Space)
* Click **Post**

| 💡 Tip: Start from the Space you want to post in. It pre-fills your selections and saves clicks.

**Step 2: Add Your Content**

![Screenshot of the Post creation screen](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/dd6126b246906800/2d4d1517-cfa0-4bea-a021-87add3_1k9b22m.png)

| Option | What it does |
| ---- |
| Camera | Photo or video from device camera or camera roll |
| Audio | Record audio directly in SpacesEDU |
| File | Upload from your device ([supported file types](https://help.spacesedu.com/en-ca/article/what-types-of-files-does-spacesedu-support-1yccgsq/)) |
| Google Drive | Attach Google Docs or files |
| OneDrive | Attach OneDrive files |
| URL | Embed any external link |

* You can upload **up to 10 attachments** per post
* Reorder attachments using the arrow buttons below the media
* Add a **title** (max 100 characters) and **description** (max 5,000 characters)
* Rich text formatting available: bold, italic, underline, lists, and emojis
* Optionally add **Curriculum Tags**

|| 📱 iOS users: The File option opens the file browser, not Camera Roll. Use the Camera option, then tap the camera roll icon instead.

**Step 3: Choose Your Post Settings**

Select the **Class**, **Space**, and **Students** for your post.
| Space type | What happens |
| ---- |
| **1:1 Space** | A separate copy is created for each selected student. Ideal for individual feedback. |
| **Class Space** | One shared post visible to all selected students. Ideal for discussions and bulletins. |
| **Group Space** | A shared copy per group. All group members see and comment on the same post. |

When posting to a **1:1 Space**, a separate copy of the post will be created for each student or group selected.
* Once you've created the post, this option allows you to apply *individual proficiency levels* for each student with the curriculum tags you've selected
* You can also go back and edit the post for one student without updating the version other students see - this is great if you have a description and attachments you want to add across all students, then add individual content later for each student

When posting to a **Class Space** , a single post will be shared amongst all selected students.
* When you add a post in a Class Space, it will be shared with all the students you select.
* This is ideal for class bulletins or discussion prompts: it means that students can all add comments on the same post, and engage with each other's comments if you have that visibility setting enabled
* Individualized proficiency levels for each student **cannot** be applied to Class Space posts.

In **Group Spaces**, a separate shared post will be created for each group, rather than each individual student.
* All members of the group will be able to access the post, and comment if that option is enabled for the space.
* All members of the group will share any curriculum tags and proficiency levels assigned to each post in a group space

###### Select the student(s) you'd like to add the post for (Teachers only). You can select:

* **Individual students** in a Class and 1:1 Space
* One or more **groups** in a Group Space
* All **students** within a Space, with the additional option to *include all future students* that may be added to that Space at a later time.

**Step 4: Post It**

When you're ready after reviewing all selections, click **Post** in the top right corner. Your post will appear in the Feed for the Space you selected.

###### Editing a Post

Teachers can edit any post at any time, including posts shared by students. Students can edit posts they've added themselves or posts created on their behalf by a teacher (individually or as a Template Post). Students cannot edit Shared Posts added for multiple students.

1. Click the **⋯** menu on the post
2. Select **Edit Post**
3. Make your changes
4. Click **Save**

###### Auto-Draft Comments

|| This feature is available to schools and districts regardless of license

No more losing your work! Comments on posts will save automatically so teachers, students, and families can pick up right where they left off — anytime. Just head back to the post you were commenting on, and it will be right there waiting for you.

###### Good to Know

* The options available depend on the Spaces you have created in your class. For example, the option to add posts for groups of students is only available after you have [created a Group Space in your class](https://help.spacesedu.com/en-ca/article/what-is-a-space-ghfrc/).
* Teachers cannot post to a Space that has no students.
