# How do I delete my account?

Deleting your SpacesEDU account is a permanent action that results in the total loss of all associated content. This guide provides the necessary steps for teachers and family members to remove their accounts, along with instructions for students seeking account deletion.

###### Before You Start

* **Permanence:** Account deletion is irreversible. Once confirmed, all data is permanently removed from our servers.
* **Data Loss:** This includes all posts, media, messages, comments, and reactions associated with the account.
* **Teacher Impact:** Deleting a teacher account will also remove all associated classes and any posts made on behalf of students.
* **Backup:** Ensure you have downloaded any essential media or records before proceeding.

###### Teacher Account Deletion

Teachers should proceed with extreme caution, as deleting an account removes the entire digital environment for their students and co-teachers.

1. Log in to your SpacesEDU account.
2. Select your **Avatar** in the top right-hand corner.
3. Select **Account Settings**.
4. Scroll down to the **Delete Account** section and select **Delete Account**.
5. In the confirmation window, type the word **'delete'** to verify the action.
6. Click **Yes, Remove**.

| 💡 Tip: If you are moving to a new school or district, consider archiving your classes instead of deleting your account. This allows you to preserve your professional record and student evidence while staying within active class limits.

###### Family Account Deletion

Family members can remove their accounts at any time, which will immediately terminate their access to student portfolios.

1. Log in to your SpacesEDU account.
2. Select your **Avatar** in the top right-hand corner.
3. Select **Account Settings**.
4. Scroll down to the **Delete Account** section and select **Delete Account**.
5. In the confirmation window, type **'delete'** to confirm.
6. Click **Yes, Remove**.

|| Note: All associated comments, messages, and reactions will be permanently removed from the student's feed.

###### Student Account Deletion

We are currently developing self-service deletion options for students. In the meantime, students who wish to delete their accounts must follow these steps:

1. Log in to the SpacesEDU platform.
2. Click the **blue chat bubble** in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
3. Send a message to our support team requesting account deletion.
4. Provide any necessary verification details as requested by the support agent.

* **Caution:** We strongly advise reviewing all class content before deletion, as this action cannot be undone.
* **Support:** If you encounter issues during the deletion process, please contact our support team via the chat icon or at [hello@spacesedu.com](mailto:hello@spacesedu.com).
* **Inactivity:** To protect user privacy, SpacesEDU automatically deletes accounts and data after **18 months of inactivity**.
