# How do students access and complete Portfolio Tasks?

Portfolio Tasks are specific prompts and activities assigned by your school to guide your portfolio posts. This article explains how to find, start, and complete them.

###### Before You Start

* Portfolio Tasks are only available if your school or district has enabled this feature with **SpacesEDU Pro**.
* Tasks are assigned at the portfolio level. You may have tasks in one portfolio but not another.
* Some tasks require more than one post to be marked complete. Read the task instructions carefully before starting.

###### Finding Your Tasks

When you log in, your Portfolios page shows a banner highlighting any assigned tasks. Portfolios with tasks display a progress indicator showing how many tasks you have started or completed.

| Indicator | What it means |
| ---- |
| **Start Tasks** | You have not started any tasks in this portfolio yet |
| **X/Y Tasks** | You have completed X out of Y assigned tasks |
| **Tasks Completed** | All assigned tasks in this portfolio are complete |

When you open a portfolio with tasks, click the **Tasks** tab to see two lists: **To Do** and **Completed**.

**myBlueprint+ Dashboard (if applicable)**

If your school uses the myBlueprint+ Career Education module, you can also find and start portfolio tasks directly from the **Tasks** page on your myBlueprint+ dashboard.

###### Completing a Task

A task is completed by creating the required number of posts. There are two ways to do this.

**Method 1: Starting from the Tasks Tab (Recommended)**

1. Click **Portfolios** and open a portfolio with tasks, or click **View Tasks** on the Career Education dashboard
2. Click any incomplete task card to open the instruction panel and review any helpful resources or attachments
3. Click the blue **Start Task** button
4. The **Create Post** screen opens with the correct task and portfolio section already pre-selected
5. Add the content required to complete the task, including any media attachments, and click **Post**

**Method 2: Selecting a Task from a New Post**

1. Click the **+ Create** button to start a new post in your portfolio feed, or click one of the "Add to Portfolio" options in myBlueprint (on an occupation or post-secondary program, for example)
2. Select a portfolio (if not already pre-selected), then a section where you would like to add the post
3. Look for the **Portfolio Task** dropdown menu on the right side of the screen
4. Select the task you want to complete from the list. The task instructions appear at the top of your screen to help guide your writing.
5. Add the content required to complete the task, including any media attachments, and click **Post**

| 💡 Tip: Pay attention to the required number of posts. Some tasks ask you to create more than one post to be fully complete. You can always link more posts to a task than required if you have extra evidence to share.

###### Copying Existing Posts to a Task

If you have already created a post that answers a task, you can copy it and link it to the task instead of starting from scratch.

1. Find the existing post you want to reuse in your feed, either within a Portfolio, a Class, or in your All Class Posts feed
2. Click the **⋯** menu on the post and select **Copy Post**
3. A new draft opens with your previous content already filled in. Select the section that includes the task you want to complete.
4. Use the **Portfolio Task** dropdown on the right to link the copied post to your task, and click **Post**
---

###### Good to Know

* You cannot link an already published post directly to a task. Use the Copy Post method above instead.
* Tasks are visible in the Tasks tab of each portfolio. Completed tasks move to the Completed list automatically once you have created the required number of posts.
