Course Selection Steps for Students

This guide explains how students can plan and submit course selections using myBlueprint+.

Student Dashboard - Course Selection Open

Student Access

  1. Visit your district-specific landing page URL, or myblueprint.spacesedu.com
  2. Enter your school district email address
  3. Log in with your username and password, if prompted
  4. See a 'Course Selection is now open!' banner? Click the Get Started button, or High School
  5. No course selection banner? Either your school hasn't opened submissions yet, or is not using the course selection module of myBlueprint+. You can still click High School in the navigation menu to plan courses for future years.

Step 1 - Adding Courses

Adding Courses to your Plan

  • You'll start off in the first empty slot under 'Next Year' when opening your high school plan. To add a course, click the 'Add' button along the right-hand side for any course.
  • Within the Add Course panel, you can click on any course name to view the description, prerequisites, and other details. You can also search for courses, and filter by grade or discipline.
  • You can click 'Add Course' or 'Add [Subject name]' to begin adding another course. To edit or remove a course you've already added, click the menu button (three dots) on the right-hand side. Adding More Courses and Editing Existing Courses

  • When you click on a box, you may see a pre-populated list of suggested or required courses. If you only see specific courses with no option to uncheck 'Suggested courses,' this means you are required to take one of the listed courses.
  • If you've already planned one of these courses in another spot for next year, you should remove it there and select it in the locked space instead. If you've already completed it or think you may be exempt from this requirement, speak to your guidance counsellor or homeroom teacher.
  • If you see the 'suggested courses' box can be unchecked, this means that your school is recommending you select one of the courses in that subject area here. If you haven't already completed the requirement, you should generally choose one of these courses. Suggested Courses
  • However, if you've already completed that subject requirement for this grade, or you are planning to complete it in summer/night school, you can uncheck this box and select another course instead.
  • Once you have filled in all of the required courses and credits you plan to take for next year, you're ready for Step 2. If you have filled in all of the available slots and you don't see the option to add another course, you can go ahead with the Review and Submit step.
  • If you still see additional slots for 'Outside Timetable' or 'Repertoire' courses, these are optional classes that run outside the regular school day. If you don't plan to take one of these courses, you can leave the spaces blank.
  • When you're ready, click Review Courses at the top right to proceed.

Step 2 - Review Submission

  • You may run into a warning dialog blocking you from accessing the next step, for example if you are missing the required minimum number of credits, or you have a missing prerequisite. Submission Warning Screenshot

  • Carefully review any warnings that pop up, and click Cancel or X to go back and make changes.
  • If you know that you should be submitting despite the warning, for example if you plan to take a prerequisite credit in summer school or online, and you see the option to Continue, you can use this to proceed to the next step.
  • If you don't see the option to continue in a warning dialog like this, it means your school has configured myBlueprint to block submissions with some or all of the issues flagged. You'll need to go back and make changes, or contact your counsellor about a potential exception.

  • With no issues flagged, or after clicking Continue on an issue warning, you'll be brought to the **Review Courses **step.
  • First, double-check the list of courses you are submitting, along with any warning flags.
  • If you made a mistake and need to go back, use the **X **at the top left of the screen.
  • In some cases, there may be additional fields you're required to fill in.
  • Your school may require you to add a comment if you are submitting selections with any issues flagged.
  • You may also be prompted to indicate your post-secondary pathway of interest. This is logged for your school's counsellors and administrators to review, and does not impact the courses you have selected.
  • If you are ready to lock in your course selections, click the blue **Submit Courses **button. Clicking the blue button on the confirmation dialog will submit your course choices - after that, you won't be able to make any changes directly from your account, unless your submission is reallowed by a counsellor or administrator.

Step 3 - Sign-off

After submitting, depending on the configuration for your school, you may be prompted to either email or print an approval for for your parent or guardian to sign off on your course selections.
