myBlueprint+ Guide for Administrators and Counsellors

myBlueprint+ Admin Account Overview

Along with the features available in any administrator account for SpacesEDU Pro, the myBlueprint+ education & career planning platform adds a number of additional pages and configurable options for each school.

  • The Dashboard page provides engagement stats and quick links to actions within your account
  • The Staff page allows administrators with appropriate permissions to manage staff for this school - you can find out more in this article.
  • The Students page is available to all admin accounts, and is likewise shared with SpacesEDU. Click here to learn more.
  • Classes allows administrators with sufficient permissions to access all SpacesEDU classes at their school(s). This page is not available for administrators with the 'Counsellor' role assigned.
  • The Imports page allows 'super admin' accounts to run data imports, if the option is enabled for your district. Districts using myBlueprint+ will generally have automated data imports in place, so manual imports are not required in most circumstances.
  • The Portfolio Templates section allows administrators to access and manage portfolios.

All of these features are shared with SpacesEDU. To learn more, click the links above, or visit the Admin & IT resources collection here.

Keep in mind as well that the exact options available to each administrator or counsellor account will depend on the features licensed by the district, as well as the permission level of the account.

The rest of this article explains the additional features enabled in the admin account for districts licensing myBlueprint+ :

  1. Course Planning - Courses
  2. Course Planning - Settings
  3. Course Submissions / High School Plans
  4. Reports

School Administrator and Counsellor Roles

Compared with Education Planner, myBlueprint+ includes some new functionality for administrators, primarily in terms of class access and portfolio template management.

  1. The Administrator Account (Full Permissions) or 'Super Admin' at the school level is the equivalent of a Counsellor Lead Account. Like the Counsellor Lead, this role provides access to manage other school staff, course catalogs, and course selection settings. It additionally provides access to all classes at the school, and the ability to manage students' classes, which are new features not previously available in Education Planner.
  2. The Administrator Account (Limited Permissions) is the closest equivalent of a Counsellor Account, and is typically the account type used when migrating counsellor accounts from Education Planner. Similar to the counsellor account there, it provides access to manage course catalogs, but not course selection settings or other staff at the school. Like the full permissions admin account, it also provides access to class management features not previously available in Education Planner.
  3. The Administrator Account (Counsellor) is a new account role for SpacesEDU and myBlueprint+. This is also similar to the Counsellor account in Education Planner, and is intended as a more limited level of access for counsellors primarily working with assigned groups of students on career planning and course selection.
  • Like the Limited Permissions account, and the Education Planner Counsellor account, it does not allow access to manage staff accounts.
  • It also does not include access to all classes or options to manage classes for students, unlike the limited permissions admin account.
  • Where it differs from the Education Planner Counsellor account is that it also does not have access to manage course catalogs (e.g. enabling and disabling courses, updating course details).
  • To support feature parity with existing accounts, Counsellor accounts from Education Planner will generally be migrated as Limited Permissions admin accounts. However, we encourage district and school administrators to consider individual staff users' access needs when updating and inviting new staff moving forward with myBlueprint+.

Account Type

Example Staff Positions and Considerations

Admin (Full)

Principal, VP, Head of Guidance; Anyone who needs to be able to import data, enable or disable course selection, and manage staff

Admin (Limited)

Department Heads, Senior Guidance Staff, Office Administrators; Anyone who needs to manage course catalogs, but not enable or disable course selection

Admin (Counsellor)

Guidance Counsellors; Career Counsellors; Anyone who needs to support students with course selection, but not manage catalogs or update school-wide settings

myBlueprint+ Dashboard

The Dashboard includes a general summary of accounts and engagement stats, common across myBlueprint + SpacesEDU. Some additional elements are enabled in the dashboard with myBlueprint+:

  • The Quick Actions element includes a point of access to the myBlueprint+ Student View. You can also access this by clicking your initials or avatar at the top right of the screen, and switching to Student.
  • There is an additional point of access with direct links to the post-secondary planner and occupation planner for students.
  • For districts and schools with the Course Selection feature enabled, there is also a checklist with links to relevant action items, and a submission status report indicating how many students have submitted their selections so far this year.

Course Planning

  • There are either one or two sub-pages accessible within the navigation menu below Course Planning, depending on the options enabled for your district, and your account's level of access.
  • For district admins, you'll need to select a single school in order to access any of these pages (from either the top left or the top right of the screen).

Courses - manage and edit your catalogue

The Courses page controls the list of available courses for students to add in future years of their High School Plan. To access it, click Course Planning in the left-hand navigation menu, then Courses.

Courses screenshot

  • This section is available to administrators at all schools and districts using myBlueprint+, although it will only have courses populated for high schools.
  • By default, the course list is ordered alphabetically by course code, but you can click any of the headers to order by course name, discipline, grade, or credit value
  • Click the filter button at the top right of the table to filter your Course List by discipline, grade, or other criteria
  • Use the Search Bar at the top of the course list table to search by course code or name

  • Edit Course Details – Click on any Course Code to modify the details of a course. Within the course details, you can modify:
  1. The course name
  2. Course grade(s) - including the option to set more than one grade
  3. Credit value
  4. Discipline
  5. Description - this is the main description of the course content
  6. School Message - this is an additional message to highlight key information for students (e.g. courses with fees or held outside regular school hours)
  7. Pre-requisite and co-requisite courses
  8. Enrollment limit - for schools using myBlueprint for course selection, you can set an enrollment limit on courses. Once the number specified here has been reached, additional students will be blocked from submitting the course.

  • Before leaving the page, click the button at the top right to Save Changes. You'll be shown a warning if you try to leave the page with unsaved changes.
  • To create a new course, click the Add button at the top right of the Courses page.
  • Note: for schools using data integration and course selection with myBlueprint, the ‘Add Course’ option may not be visible. If not, any courses that do not appear in your course list will need to be imported from your Student Information System (SIS).
  • Courses that have been imported from your SIS also cannot have their course code modified, to ensure that selections can transfer back to your SIS.

Settings - configuring your course selection options

The features within the Settings sub-page are only relevant for schools using myBlueprint for course selection.

  • As of the initial platform release, this option will be visible for all schools. Schools not using the Course Selection feature of myBlueprint can disregard this page.
  • With an update to our platform planned for October 2025, this page will be hidden for schools that are not licensing this option.
  • To learn more about configuring these options, consult our Course Selection Guide (coming soon!)

Course Submissions & High School Plans

Below Course Planning in the navigation menu, administrators will be able to access students' high school plans.

  • For the initial release, this section will be labelled Course Submissions for all schools, but as of October 2025, it will be updated to High School Plans for schools not licensing or using the Course Selection module.

  • Within this page, you can access a list of all students with plans for each school, and course selection options for those schools using this feature.
  • To search for a student, use the search bar at the top right. You can also click the button next to the search bar to filter by last initial, grade, and/or course submission status. Search bar and filter button
  • To access a student's plan, click on their last name. This will open a view of their full plan, showing any completed courses and those scheduled for the current school year. High School Plan
  • The Current Year and past grades are populated with data from your student information system.
  • If you notice any discrepancies with this information, please double check that the data is entered correctly on the student's transcript in your SIS - in particular, that completed credits have a completion date entered, and that the date is correct. If everything looks correct there, please contact us to investigate further using the messaging option in your account, or by emailing hello@spacesedu.com.
  • Students can also plan courses for any future years to ensure they are on track for graduation, and all administrator/counsellor accounts can add or edit courses in future years on students' behalf.
  • The Next Year column represents the courses that students would actually be submitting, including any alternates, for schools using the Course Selection module. Alternates are included in the course selection export, but any other courses beyond next school year do not form part of students' course selection submissions.
  • Prior to course selection being opened, courses can still be planned out by students, but cannot be fully submitted or 'locked in' until course selection is open. Students will see a prominent notification in their accounts when logging in with course selection open.
  • In the panel on the right-hand side of the screen, you can click View Progress to see a detailed summary of students' graduation progress based on the credits in their plan. From the high school plan in both the admin and student view, you can also see the name of the graduation requirements applied in the student's plan and summary details:
  • Earned represents the number of credits already completed towards their graduation requirements
  • Planned represents courses in-progress for this year, or planned ahead for future years
  • Required provides the earned + planned credits in the plan as compared with the required credits of their diploma or certificate
  • The number on the right in 'Required' is the total number of credits the student needs, based on their diploma requirements. The number on the left will never exceed the number on the right. However, the total credits reflects the total number of credits earned and planned by the student, beyond what's needed for their diploma.

Grid Manager

myBlueprint+ provides multiple enhancements to the options available for configuring your High School grid. For any given slot in your students’ plans, we can:

  • Adjust the pre-populated name (e.g. English, French, etc.)
  • Link to one or more specific course disciplines  (Education Planner allows only 1)
  • Pre-filter courses by grade level
  • Pre-filter courses to a list of individual course codes
  • Lock a plan slot for students based on any of the criteria above (while keeping the option for counsellors to override)

By default, the filters function in the same way as Education Planner, limiting the suggested courses for students but still allowing them to select a different course if needed.

  • For unlocked boxes, students will see a ‘Suggested Courses’ toggle, which they can uncheck to select a different course:
  • For locked boxes, students are restricted to only selecting from the filtered list of courses, and cannot select other courses. Counsellors can always override the suggested courses and add a different course on a student’s behalf.

  • These options are most relevant for schools using myBlueprint for course selection, but can be customized at the district or school level for any school using the platform.
  • Your school's existing configuration should be copied over from Education Planner, where applicable, or based on provincial defaults. You can review the pre-populated options for your school by viewing a student's high school plan and adding courses under future years.
  • At this time, changes need to be applied by our support team. Please contact us with the messaging option in your account, or email hello@spacesedu.com with the following details:
  1. The existing name of the box you’d like to update
  2. The discipline(s), grade level(s), and/or specific course codes you’d like to appear for students
  3. Note - you can combine filters, for example we can make the English box for Grade 10 show all grade 10-level courses in the English discipline. Generally there is no need to provide other filtering criteria if you want to display specific individual course codes.
  4. If you’d like to reorder or rename the boxes, please list the desired order & name for all boxes in each grade you want to update

Reports

All of the reports below are accessible to all administrator roles in myBlueprint. They are not available for districts only licensing SpacesEDU Pro.

Course Submissions

  • This report is only applicable for schools using myBlueprint+ for course selection. Other schools will see all students listed under 'not submitted.'
  • For schools using the course selection module, once submissions have opened, administrators will see the total number of students in each of the following categories:
  • Not Submitted
  • Submitted
  • Not Completing - this is a special status administrators can apply to indicate that a student will not be submitting course selections in myBlueprint. This does not allow tracking a student's destination.
  • Not Returning - this is a status which students can submit instead of course selections, or administrators can apply, to indicate students will not be returning to the school next year. This does allow tracking a student's destination.
  • Both the Not Completing and Not Returning categories are not included in the overall submission percentage. This means that by applying these statuses, schools can reach 100% completion even if not every individual student will be submitting selections with myBlueprint.

Course Forecasting

  • This report is applicable for all schools using myBlueprint+ for students to plan their courses for next school year.
  • Course Forecasting provides a list of all the courses at the school which at least one student has added to their plan for next year. You can click any of the totals in the columns on the right to access a list of the individual students for that course.
  • The overview report and individual student detail report can also be downloaded as a CSV using the option at the top right.
  • The leftmost column in the report gives the total number of students, regardless of their status.
  • Schools that are not using myBlueprint for course selection, or that do not have submission enabled yet, will not see any information in the 'Submitted,' 'Exported,' or 'Alternate' columns.
  • If submissions are open, the numbers in these columns will update to reflect whether students have submitted and locked in the selection, as opposed to the students who have still only planned but not yet submitted. Students in Submitted status may still be modified by a counsellor, or allowed to resubmit.
  • Exported student totals reflect those submissions which have already been exported to your SIS, and are also locked for modification by counsellors.
  • Alternates are those students who have the course as an alternate selection (regardless of whether these are planned, submitted, or exported).

Not Returning

  • This report is only applicable for schools using myBlueprint+ for course selection. Other schools will see no data here.
  • For schools with course selection enabled, or that have begun using the 'Not Returning' option to indicate this on students' behalf before opening selections, this report provides a breakdown of the destinations that have been indicated for students (e.g. Apprenticeship, College, University, etc.)
