November 2026 Product Updates
As the leaves settle and the school year hits its stride, November's release is one we're especially excited to share. Students and families can finally see learning progress for themselves, and teachers stay in charge of what's shared. We've also made SpacesEDU friendlier for our youngest learners and added some welcome updates to the Reporting Space.
A big thank you to every teacher, admin, and family member who shared feedback along the way. This one's for you!
Student & Family Progress View
The wait is over! 🎉 Until now, GrowthBook and assessment information could only be seen in teacher accounts. Students and families relied on report cards, emails or a quick chat to know how things were going.
The new Progress View gives students and families a simple, read-only view of learning progress in each class. Teachers have full control of what's shared, who sees it, and when it becomes available.
With Progress View, teachers can:
- Choose who can see it: Turn it on for students, families, or both. Nothing is shared until you're ready.
- Choose what's shared: Include Activities, GrowthBook Entries, and Posts, then pick exactly which Activities and Entries to show.
- Help everyone stay on track: Show Overdue and Upcoming Activities so students and families know what's coming up.
- Preview before sharing: See exactly what each student and family member will see before anything goes live.
Students and families can view their progress two ways: by Activities & Entries, or by Curriculum Tags to see growth skill by skill. They'll also get a notification when Progress View first becomes available in their class.
Ready to get started? Open the Assessment tab in your class and select Get Started on the Progress View banner.
Note: Progress View needs to be turned on for your school or district first. Activities and GrowthBook Entries created before this release won't be included until you add them, which you can do from the Control Visibility buttons in your Progress View settings.
Young Learn Updates
SpacesEDU supports learners from Kindergarten through Grade 12, and we know our youngest learners have different needs. Based on feedback from primary teachers, these updates simplify navigation and make it easier for young students to capture and share their learning with confidence.
Choose which media types students can use
In Class Settings, the new Media Type Settings lets teachers turn each media type on or off, right down to text-only Posts. These settings apply to Comments too, and can be customized for each Class.
Jump straight into class
Students who are in a single class, with no Portfolios, will now be taken directly to their class when they log in, making it easier to get started.
Posting made easier
- A new + Post button in the Spaces tab and All Feeds makes it quick to start a Post.
- If a student can only post to one Class or Space, unnecessary options will be hidden to make posting simpler.
- When copying a Post, a new Post Destination section shows exactly where it's going.
- Teachers get clearer buttons too: + Space, + Post, and + Activity.

Friendly finishing touches
- The Logout button is now red with a door icon, so it's easy to spot.
- Look for the apple 🍎 next to the teacher's name on Posts, just like on Comments.
- Class Space and Reporting Space cards have fresh, student-friendly descriptions, like "This is a shared space for the whole class!"
- Media icons in Comments now match the colours and order used when creating a Post.

Reporting Space Updates
Report card season is just around the corner, so we've packed in a few updates to make it a little smoother:
- Download all your reports at once: Teachers can now download reports for their whole class, either as one PDF or as a separate PDF for each student.
- Student names on every page: Each page of a Reporting Space PDF now shows the student's name and page number, so printed reports stay organized.
- A "View Scale" button for families: Families can now open the Proficiency Scale right from the Reporting Space, so it's easier to understand what each level means.
- Your terms, your words: Multi-Term Reporting Spaces now support custom term names that match your district's reporting language. Connect with your Success Specialist to set this up.
- More carries over between terms: Additional Supports and media attachments now copy over when starting a new term.
- Clearer approval language: "Review" is now "Approve" throughout the admin approval process.
- More flexibility for admins: Admins with Limited Permissions (Staff Leads) can now turn Admin Formal Review on or off.

Portfolios First on the Homepage
Districts that primarily use Portfolios can now choose to make the Portfolios tab the default view when students log in. Classes will remain the default unless your district chooses to change this setting.
Connect with your Success Specialist to switch your homepage to Portfolios first.

Additional Updates
- Feedback Companion safeguards
- Your work is safer than ever. You'll get a reminder before leaving the comment review page, you'll stay on the same page after editing or deleting a comment, and the Add Comment window won't close if you accidentally click outside it.
- Teacher approval requests for District Admins
- District Admins will now receive teacher account approval requests, even when a School Admin is also set up.
- Download a list of active teachers
- Admins can now download a spreadsheet (CSV) of all active teachers from the Staff tab on the Active Teachers page.
- More salutation options
- The salutation list in Account Settings now includes French options like M., Mme, and Mlle, which is perfect for French teachers in English schools.
- Clearer Space buttons and labels
- The "Create" button now reads "Create Space", and the Space visibility labels have a fresh look so they're easier to tell apart.
- A refreshed Portfolio share page
- Shared Portfolio pages have a slightly updated look. All existing share links will keep working as usual.
- Mobile app improvements (Android and Apple)
- Long-press any text to translate it with Google Translate. On iPad, images now fill the screen in full view.
- Archived Portfolios stay archived
- Portfolio Tasks no longer appear in archived Portfolios, so no new work can be added to them by mistake.
