With summer just around the corner, our SpacesEDU team has been busy enhancing your experience. Based on your valuable feedback, we've developed a range of new features and improvements to help you power through the season. Dive in to see what’s new this May!

Measurement & reporting within Portfolios

Portfolio assessment features are here! Gain deeper insights, provide more structured feedback, and give educators the tools they need to meaningfully track and report on student outcomes in alignment with your Portfolio goals.

Once enabled by administrators within individual Portfolio Templates, teachers will be able to assess student evidence tied to each of the sections available within the portfolios. Students will gain a better understanding of their level of mastery and progress.

Admins can reach out to our team to learn how to get started.

Family activity notification controls for teachers

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro.

Teachers are now able to toggle which Activity notifications are sent to family members, giving them more control over what is communicated with families over the course of an activity’s life-cycle. Teachers can access these notification settings within their Class Settings in the top left corner of their class view.

Teachers can decide whether families are notified when an Activity:

  • has been assigned to students

  • is approaching its due date and has yet to be submitted

  • is overdue and has not been submitted

  • has been posted to its respective Space and is now visible to families

Increased limits… oh my!

We’ve increased the character limits on a number of items within SpacesEDU to ensure you have space for everything you’re looking to share. The updates include:

  • Increased the character limit from 5,000 to 10,000 characters on the following:

    • Descriptions within posts

    • Descriptions within Spaces

    • Comments within posts and activities

    • Summary statements within the Reporting Space

    • Areas of Learning descriptions within the Reporting Space

  • Increased the character limit from 2,500 to 10,000 characters on the following:

    • Submissions within activities

  • Increased the Areas of Learning headings from 60 to 120 characters.

We also have one last surprise - For Reporting Space users, we’ve increased the limit of Centrally Added Areas of Learning from 20 to 40 characters!

This means that districts can support more Areas of Learning within the reports. And since teachers still have the ability to manually add up to 20, the Reporting Space can now support a total of 60 Areas of Learning.

Additional Updates & Enhancements

We also made a handful of additional performance and quality-of-life improvements in SpacesEDU.

  • Posts within Portfolios may fall under multiple categories, which is why students and teachers can now select and apply posts to multiple sections of their Portfolio. (SpacesEDU Pro + Portfolios Add-on)

  • The default page size within an Activity’s Quick Review and Proficiency Table will now be preserved. For large classes, this will make navigating those tables even easier. (SpacesEDU Pro + Reporting Add-on)

  • A series of layout updates to the Android and iOS apps for enhanced readability. (SpacesEDU Free)
