As the school year begins, the team at Spaces has been hard at work on some exciting new feature updates. These updates bring easier access to Spaces for students, and new ways to engage your classroom in their learning journey.

Reporting Spaces

Think of it as a visual report card or a summative portfolio. Teachers can easily bookmark exemplary artifacts of student learning throughout the year and add it to a Reporting Space.

The Reporting Space can be shared with family and/or students at the end of the year or at various progress points.

Each student has their own unique story when it comes to their learning and growth — with Reporting Spaces, we help tell those stories.

Reporting Spaces is available as an optional add-on to Spaces Pro for Schools/Districts.

Proficiency Scales

A Standards-Based Assessment feature that makes it easy for educators to assess and report on student progress, learning outcomes and competencies using a 4 point scale (a customizable the scale with Spaces Pro).

Showcase and celebrate students who have exemplified a strong understanding of curriculum goals or identify students who may require more support along the way.

Proficiencies can be applied to both posts and activities.

Note: Activities require Curriculum Tags are selected before applying proficiencies.

Want to keep things more private in your classroom? No problem - You can decide whether students or family get to see proficiencies on posts and activities.

Customized Proficiency Scales is available as an optional add-on for Spaces Pro for Schools/Districts. The Custom Proficiency + Reporting Spaces add-on allows schools and districts to customize Proficiency Scales, including the # of scale points and the language being used.

QR Codes

One of our most popular requests!

Allow students to use QR Codes to log into the Spaces platform - making it even easier to get started. Teachers can access, share or print QR Codes for their students directly within their Classes.

QR Codes is available only with Spaces Pro for Schools/Districts.

Additional Updates

We also made a handful of smaller performance and quality of life improvements in Spaces.

  • Teachers can now submit Activity work on behalf of a student.

    • Teachers can also edit student work on their behalf.

  • Students can appear in Classes immediately after Sync/Import.

    • Currently, after an SIS/LMS Sync or CSV Import, students receive an account invite, and are required to log in before they appear in Classes. This update adds all students into the Student List and Classes after a Sync/Import. Educators can start managing classes, sharing posts to students, and assigning new activities right away and start the school year off strong.

  • Fixed a few bugs and introduced select performance enhancements.
