Guess what? It’s gonna be May… and this May is filled with some very exciting updates to enhance reporting capabilities within SpacesEDU.

Dive into the latest feature enhancements below!

Reporting Space - Additional Supports

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Reporting Add-on.

A reporting requirement for many districts is communicating which additional supports (ELL, LS) students are receiving. To better equip teachers at reporting time, we are including the ability to include Additional Supports within the Reporting Space. Once added, teachers can apply these to their students’ Reporting Spaces, appearing in both the Reporting Space and the generated PDF. Additional Supports can be pre-added for a district, but to account for diverse needs, teachers can also choose to create their own Additional Supports.

SpacesEDU District Administrators, please contact your Success Specialist if you’d like to include a list of Additional Supports for your school or district.

Reporting Space - Centrally added Areas of Learning

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Reporting Add-on.

We recognize that adding all of your Areas of Learning (Mathematics, Science, Dispositions, etc.) may be a cumbersome part of setting up your classroom Reporting Space. Centrally added Areas of Learning allow teachers to quickly set up their Areas of Learning in just a couple of clicks with preloaded Areas of Learning that have been added to their district settings.

If supported by their district, teachers will now see the option to select from a list of centrally added Areas of Learning within their Reporting Space.

Administrators, please contact your Success Specialist if you’d like to include a list of custom Areas of Learning for your school or district.

Reporting Space - Updates to prevent editing issues

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Reporting Add-on.

We've made a number of changes that allow multiple teachers to collaborate within the Reporting Space at the same time.

  • Only one teacher at a time will be able to update a student’s individual Reporting Space. If the same student is selected by another teacher, that teacher will see an indicator at the top of the Reporting Space. This means that other teachers will be unable to edit the same student until the first teacher has finished their edits.

  • To address any concerns around a teacher opening a student’s Reporting Space and simply leaving it unattended, which would block other teachers from making their own changes, a session timeout will be imposed. Teachers who leave their Edit Reporting Space screen open for over 1 hour and 30 minutes of inactivity will automatically relinquish editing access and their session will be closed so other teachers can make edits. Please note, any unsaved changes will be lost. We recommend that teachers protect their work by regularly saving their progress.

  • If a teacher is making edits to the settings of the Reporting Space, other teachers will be unable to make any edits at that point in time. This is to ensure that all teachers are protected from any potential loss of work.

As educators head into the reporting period before the end of the school year, we hope that these changes will help support a more collaborative environment within SpacesEDU.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact our team directly and we’ll be happy to support you. This feature is only available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Reporting Add-on.

Additional Updates & Enhancements

We also made a handful of additional performance and quality of life improvements in SpacesEDU.

  • Submissions for Activities will automatically retain the original title provided by the teacher. Students and educators will still be able to edit the title provided. (SpacesEDU Free)

  • Teachers will now find a new link in their teacher section (within the People tab) promoting the Certification program available to all teachers! (SpacesEDU Free)

  • We’ve made several updates to better support screen readers within SpacesEDU. (SpacesEDU Free)

  • To further streamline teacher onboarding, when teachers are added to a class as part of an import/roster, they will also receive a student account. (SpacesEDU Pro)

  • Educators can now edit and rename their direct message thread titles with students and family members. (SpacesEDU Free)
