Creating a Space

Ever wondered how great it would be to have a place where you can collaborate with colleagues and students? How about a place all to yourself where you can create a personal portfolio?

SpacesEDU has the 'space' for you to do all of this and more!

Want to learn more about the different Spaces and what you can do in them? Check out What is a Space?

If you are a teacher new to SpacesEDU, you will see a Class Space that is already set up for you. This will be where you and your students can interact and communicate with one another.

As a teacher, you can create additional 1:1 or Group Spaces by following these steps:

Creating 1:1 Spaces

  1. Click Spaces at the top of your screen

  2. Select + Create

  3. Select Select 1:1

  4. Click Next

  5. Select All Students or Individual Students

  6. Click Next

  7. Customize the Name and Description of your space

  8. Click Save

Note: you do not need to create a separate 1:1 space for each student. Simply select all students when creating an individual space and a 1:1 private space for each student will automatically be created.

Creating Group Spaces

  1. Click Spaces at the top of your screen

  2. Select + Create

  3. Select Select Group

  4. Select how to assign students (Automatically or Manually) - if using automatic group creation, select the number of students in each group

  5. Click Next

  6. Review the list of groups and add or edit as needed

  7. Click Next

  8. Customize the Name and Description of your space

  9. Click Save

To return to your main account homepage, click the arrow button in the top left corner of your Space:

To view how each Space will appear in your profile, check out the screenshot below:

Now that you have created some additional Spaces, you can check out our article How can I update Space settings? to learn how to customize your Spaces.
