How can I copy a post?

Transferring high-quality posts between Spaces allows for efficient content reuse and portfolio building. Both teachers and students can copy posts to different classes, groups, or individual portfolios to maintain a continuous record of learning.

Before You Start

  • Permissions: You must have access to create posts in the destination space to complete a copy.
  • Ownership: Students can only copy posts they have authored themselves.
  • Content Scope: Copied posts include all attachments and curriculum tags, but do not include comments from the original post.
  • Independence: The new post is entirely separate; edits or comments made to the copy will not affect the original.

Steps to Copy a Post

Follow these instructions to duplicate a post into a new location:

  1. Locate the post you wish to duplicate and click the three dots (menu button) at the bottom right.
  2. Select Copy Post from the menu.
  3. In the Post Details section, review and optionally edit the title, description, or attachments.
  4. In the Post Selections panel, configure the destination:
    • Post to: Select the target Class and Space (Class, Group, or 1:1).
    • Post Type: Choose between a Shared or Template Post.
    • Students: Select specific students or the Entire Class.
  5. Click Post at the top right to finalize the copy.

Copying to Portfolios (SpacesEDU Pro)

For schools utilizing the Portfolios add-on, you can move class evidence directly into a student's permanent record.

  1. Follow steps 1-2 above to open the copy interface.
  2. Toggle the Portfolios tab at the top of the screen.
  3. In the Post Selections panel, select the specific Portfolio and Section for the copy.
    • Note: Posts can only be copied to one student portfolio at a time.
  4. Click Post to save the evidence to the portfolio.

Good to Know

  • Visibility: The copied post will adopt the visibility settings of its new destination space.
  • Missing Options: If you do not see the "Copy Post" option, it indicates you are not the author of the post or do not have posting rights in the target space.
  • Activities: Copying a post is distinct from copying an Activity. To duplicate an Activity, please refer to the Activity Management Guide.
  • Reporting: Copied posts are treated as new entries in the Reporting Space, ensuring accurate data for the destination class.

💡 Tip: Use the "Copy Post" feature to quickly move exemplary student work from a collaborative Class Space into their private Portfolio for end-of-year assessments.
