How do I save a post as a draft?

Drafting allows teachers and students to capture ideas and evidence without immediate publication. SpacesEDU provides both automated and manual saving options to ensure your work is preserved during the creation process.

Before You Start

  • Visibility: Drafts are private and are only visible to the author until they are officially posted.
  • Device Sync: Drafts saved on the web interface will sync to the mobile app, and vice versa, provided you are logged into the same account.
  • Media Handling: All attachments (photos, videos, files) are saved within the draft and do not need to be re-uploaded.

Methods for Saving Drafts

There are two primary ways your work is secured while you are editing a post:

  1. Automatic Save: The platform automatically saves your progress every 30 seconds while the editor is active.
  2. Manual Save: You can click the Save Draft button in the top right corner at any time.

💡 Tip: If you have finished your current edits and the "Save Draft" button is greyed out, it means the platform has already performed an automatic save. You can safely click the X in the top left to exit the editor.

Locating and Managing Drafts

Once a draft is saved, you can return to it to revise, delete, or publish the content.

  1. Open the specific Class where the draft was created.
  2. Click Drafts in the top right corner of the screen.
    • Note: On the mobile app, you must first select the Feed tab to see the Drafts option.
  3. Ensure the Posts tab is selected.
  4. Choose an action:
    • Edit: Select this to continue working on the post or to publish it to the feed.
    • Delete: Click the three dots (context menu) and select Delete Draft to permanently remove the content.

Portfolio Drafts (SpacesEDU Pro)

For schools utilizing Portfolio Templates, the draft interface includes additional configuration options.

  • Toggle Type: You can switch between a Class Post and a Portfolio Post while editing a draft.
  • Required Selections: When switching to a Portfolio Post for the first time, you must update the Space or Section selections before the "Save Draft" button will become active.

Good to Know

  • Draft Limits: There is no limit to the number of drafts a user can maintain simultaneously.
  • Collaboration: Co-teachers cannot see or edit each other's drafts; a post must be published before it becomes visible to other educators in the class.
  • Support: If you experience issues with drafts not saving, please verify your internet connection or contact us via the chat icon in the bottom left corner.
