Woohoo! Spring is finally here, and we have a lot of blooming updates to share with you at SpacesEDU! Dive in to discover new features and improvements, with even more exciting enhancements on the way.

Admin formal review within the Reporting Space

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Reporting Add-on.

Currently, teachers have to jump between SpacesEDU and other tools to get their reports approved, which isn't ideal. We've heard from our partners that they'd love to handle everything in one place, and we agree! By bringing the approval process into SpacesEDU, teachers can stay focused on what matters most — supporting their students' learning journeys.

Administrators will now be able to review and approve Reporting Spaces directly in SpacesEDU before teachers share them with students and families.

We're working to make year-round and year-end reporting even smoother for educators. This update will eliminate the need to duplicate work across different platforms and create a seamless experience for year-end reporting. No more switching between tools or disrupted workflows — just simple, straightforward report management within SpacesEDU.

Presentation mode within Portfolios

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Portfolios Add-on.

When students showcase their learning journey through Portrait of a Graduate (POG) or Portrait of a Learner (POL) presentations, they're doing more than just sharing their work—they're telling their unique learning story. These meaningful presentations give students the chance to reflect on their achievements and demonstrate their growth to their teachers, peers, and mentors.

Say goodbye to downloading SpacesEDU content and manually moving it into presentations. Students can now use a dedicated presentation mode in Portfolios.

Students will now be able to showcase their work seamlessly, pulling content directly from their Portfolio to create engaging presentations.

Drawing tools within Posts

This feature is available to all students and teachers, regardless of their license.

The drawing tool has consistently been a top request for some time and now it’s becoming a reality! Whether it's sketching out math problems, creating mind maps, or adding personal touches to assignments, drawing opens up exciting new ways for students to express themselves and demonstrate their understanding.

Teachers and students will now find a new drawing tool as they create new posts on the platform. They’ll have access to a pencil, eraser, shapes, lines, arrows, and a text tool. We’re excited for you to give the new drawing tools a try!

Please note: Drawings cannot be edited once they have been saved. Drawing tools will also be unavailable for the Android and iOS apps.

Admin access to student portfolios

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Portfolios Add-on.

Previously, administrators did not have access to student Portfolios directly from within their account. With this release, we’re introducing admin access to Portfolios! This update will allow admins to directly access full Portfolios from their own account for enhanced transparency and engagement.

District admins will be able to access student Portfolios from within the ‘Portfolio Templates’ tab, by selecting any of the Portfolio names. School admins will gain access from a new dedicated ‘Portfolios’ tab within their account. Once inside a Portfolio, administrators can get a snapshot of student usage, add content on behalf of students, and review student Portfolios directly.

Ability to bulk apply proficiencies within the GrowthBook

This feature is available to schools and districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro + Assessment Add-on.

Teachers will now be able to open a dedicated ‘Bulk Apply Proficiencies’ option where they can select multiple cells within the GrowthBook and apply proficiencies in bulk.

Educators can select any of the cells they want to update and then select their preferred proficiency. In just a few clicks, teachers can rapidly apply proficiencies.

Additional Updates & Enhancements

We also made a handful of additional performance and quality-of-life improvements in SpacesEDU.

  • When educators have a single active Space, the ‘Space’ field for students creating Post content will be automatically pre-selected to the active Space. This streamlined setup reduces on-screen options, making it easier for younger students to navigate and minimizing the likelihood of errors. (SpacesEDU Free)

  • Curriculum Tag Sets that have been deprecated or archived will now be represented as an element. Don’t worry—these tags will not be deleted. Teachers will continue to have access but with more awareness around whether those tags will continue to be updated or not. (SpacesEDU Free)

  • We’ve included an additional Post draft access point on the ‘Spaces’ tab within mobile for easier access to drafts. (SpacesEDU Free)

  • Within the Reporting Space, when viewing the Summary Statements or Areas of Learning, educators can now select the entire element to easily expand the content. (SpacesEDU Pro + Reports Add-On)

  • We’ve improved copy throughout the platform to make interactions clearer.
