Account Creation
To create a SpacesEDU account, simply visit spacesedu.com and click Sign Up.
From there, ensure you have selected the correct region in the top right of the screen (Canada, United States, or International), and enter your email address.
Your next steps will depend on the email address you enter, and whether or not your school has Single Sign-on (SSO) enabled.
Single Sign-On
If SSO is enabled for your district, you will automatically be guided to your district's login portal upon entering your email address
From here, you can log in with your school username and password (generally the same as you would use to access a school computer or your email account)
You may be logged directly into SpacesEDU if you have already logged in on that computer with your credentials
Note: If you are logging in with SSO on a shared device, ensure that you have fully logged out of the device at the end of the session, if possible, or clear the cookies in your Web browser
After logging in with Single Sign-On, you may be prompted to confirm your role (Student or Teacher) and your school within the district - if so, fill in these details to complete the creation of your account
Teacher accounts created this way require approval by a district or school administrator
If classes have already been imported for your school, you may be brought directly to a teacher or student account with classes pre-populated when you first log in
Schools that do not use Single Sign-On
If the email you enter is not from a school with SSO enabled, you will be prompted to confirm whether you're a Student, Teacher, or Family after entering your email.
Student & Family Signup
If you select I'm a Student, you will need to enter a Class Code provided by your teacher
Your teacher may also provide you with a class URL that you can use to sign up, or a QR code that you can use to log in
If you have a QR code, you don't need to sign up or enter an email address at all - just click the Log in With QR Code button and scan your code!
After entering a Class Code as a student, or selecting the I'm Family option, you'll be brought to a signup form
If you're a family member, you can create your account yourself, but you'll need to receive an invitation from a teacher to connect with a student in their class
You can either sign up for an account using the link you receive in the email invitation, or accept an invitation from within your account by clicking on your initials or avatar at the top right of the screen
You can complete the signup process in one of two ways:
Click Sign Up with Google to sign up using any Google account credentials (either a public Gmail account, or a Google account from your organization)
You'll be prompted to agree to our Terms of Use, and then log in with your Google account
If you're already logged in with multiple Google accounts in your browser, you'll be prompted in a pop-up window to select which account you'd like to use, or you can click Use Another Account
You can also create your Student or Family account directly in SpacesEDU: fill in your name and enter a password below your email address, check that you agree to our Terms of Use, then click the blue Sign Up button
Teacher Signup
The signup process for teachers is the same as outlined above for students and families, with one extra step.
Visit spacesedu.com
Click Sign Up
Ensure you have selected the correct region in the top right of the screen, and enter your email address
Select I'm a Teacher, then:
Click Sign Up with Google to sign up using any Google account credentials (either a public Gmail account, or a Google account from your organization)
You'll be prompted to agree to our Terms of Use, and then log in with your Google account
If you're already logged in with multiple Google accounts in your browser, you'll be prompted in a pop-up window to select which account you'd like to use, or you can click Use Another Account
You can also create your Teacher account directly in SpacesEDU:
Fill in your name and enter a password below your email address, check that you agree to our Terms of Use, then click the blue Sign Up button
You will be prompted to confirm your school - you will see a list of nearby schools based on your current location, or can search for any school you are looking for
When you find your school, click Join School
Don’t see your school? If you've double-checked the spelling of any search keywords you've entered, but still can't see your school on the list, click Can’t find your school? at the bottom of the screen
If you are a teacher at a school that licenses SpacesEDU Pro, you may be required to wait for an administrator to approve your account after completing the signup process.
