Free Accounts

Each type of SpacesEDU account offers a different level of access. The free version of SpacesEDU offers three main account types: teachers, students, and family.

  • Teachers can:

    • create classes, individual and group spaces

    • invite students and family members to sign up and join classes

    • invite co-teachers to share their class

    • send messages to students and family members, and control whether 2-way messaging is enabled

  • Students can:

    • view posts added to the entire class, and comments on them

    • may be able to create posts and comments, and may be able to view other students' posts and comments, depending on the settings for the space

    • can receive messages, and may be able to reply or not, depending on the settings applied by their teacher

  • Family can:

    • receive messages, and may be able to reply (or not, depending on the settings applied by the teacher

    • may be able to view and comment on posts by their linked students, or posts to the entire class, depending on the settings applied by the teacher

    • cannot view comments added by other linked family members

Note: you can have more than one type of account linked with the same email address. To switch between the two, click on your avatar or initials at the top right of your account, and select the account you'd like to view.

SpacesEDU Pro

Teacher accounts

Teachers at districts licensing SpacesEDU Pro can access a range of valuable additional features. The specific features available for each teacher will depend on the configuration and options licensed by their school or district. These may include:

Admin accounts

SpacesEDU Pro also offers additional administrator accounts that provide powerful tools to onboard and manage your school or district. These accounts can have access to one or more schools, or an entire district, with either limited or full permissions.

  • The primary difference between these account types is that only admin accounts with full permissions (a.k.a. 'Super Admin') can use the rostering import function to set up their school.

  • School admin accounts with full permissions can be created either by the SpacesEDU support team, or by a district admin.

  • District admin accounts with limited permissions can be created by a district admin with full permissions, or by the SpacesEDU support team.

  • District admin accounts with full permissions can be created only by the SpacesEDU team for districts with a Pro license.
